Re local authorities using parking charges to raise revenue, I live five minutes walk from Stoneleigh station and consequently we have single yellow lines in the road although 100m further from the station there are none.
On Easter Monday Epsom and Ewell council sent around a van and issued parking tickets to several people in our street, although fortunately not us.
We believe the last time we saw parking attendants was two years ago on a similar holiday date. I believe this is blatant money making activity which can have no possible justification as the station was not being used by commuters - especially in light of Eric Pickles criticism of councils using parking charges to raise revenue.
