Friends of a teenager who went missing 26 years ago have organised a charity reunion in his memory.

A group of people who were all in the same year as missing Lee Boxell have organised a get-together after recent developments in the investigation into his disappearance brought back memories of him and their time together at school.

The group, who all went to Cheam High School, will hold a school disco style party at the Woodman in Carshalton on Saturday in tribute to Lee and to raise money for the charity Missing People.

Lee went missing in September 1988. Police have conducted a huge investigation into the disappearance but now fear he may have been abducted and killed by members of a paedophile ring that operated from an unofficial youth club based at St Dunstan's Church known as the Shed.

Last month officers arrested four people in connection with Lee's disappearance and the development made his former got Lee's former classmates thinking of their long-lost friend.

Nikki Sutton, who still lives and works in the area, has organised the event. She said: "We were all in the same year as Lee and the recent events have brought things back to the surface again and, as such, we thought this would be a good way to raise some funds in his memory."

Ms Sutton and her friends have been in touch with Lee's parents who gave the event their blessing and suggested that they would like the proceeds to go to Missing People. They also contacted Cheam High School which has backed the event.

The reunion will be a school disco for anyone who went to the school from 1984 to 1994 and will feature music from the era.

It will be at the Woodman in Carshalton High Street from 7.30pm to 1am on Saturday. Partners and friends are welcome. Entry is free and there will be a collection on the night for Missing People.
