A speed camera in Carshalton was torched by vandals earlier this week.

The camera in Green Wrythe Lane was set alight shortly after midnight on Monday, May 5.

The arsonist set fire to a car tyre hung over the camera.

Eyewitness Tay Hassan said: "It was lucky the fire was put out quickly as it was spitting burning rubber everywhere."

Thanks for putting up my article. We really need to find who did this. It could have burned our house down.

It was spitting burning rubber on our car, if that had been set on fire and blown up, what would have happened?

Very clever, but we probably would have needed a new potion of the house too, that's how close the speed camera and the car are.
