People in Cheam were hit by a utilities double blow with electrical and water problems affecting hundreds of homes over the weekend.
Drivers in the area had to negotiate two sets of roadworks over the weekend as Sutton and East Surrey Water dug up the crossroads where the High Street meets Ewell Road.
And UK Power Networks had to stop traffic while it fixed a fault that plunged homes and St Dunstan's School into darkness on Friday.
The works faults and roadworks threatened to affect children arriving at schools to start their GCSE and Sats exams this week but all the problems had been fixed by Monday morning.
Sutton and South East Water carried out roadworks at the crossroads at the centre of Cheam Village to fix a pipe that has been leaking since January.
The work was carried out over the weekend and involved customers in the area having their water cut off for several hours.
UK Power Networks had to dig up a patch of Ewell Road after a fault developed in an electrical cable and caused a power cut to hit St Dunstan's school on Friday morning.
The school was forced to shut until lunchtime and the roadworks continued over the weekend. Although the roadworks were still in place on Monday, traffic has been flowing.
