I was interested to read the article in last weeks Guardian about the nightclub, known before as Shooshh, that could close due to an incident.
I have been thinking for a long time that Croydon’s nightlife should be vibrant and an attractive feature for the town but now people seem to think the opposite.
When I was out in London last week and I was getting the night bus back I heard one girl say she didn’t want to go out in Croydon anymore as it was too dangerous.
Examples like someone getting knifed outside one of the town’s main clubs is not something that is going to help change this girl’s mind.
It seems as though we need more diversity in our clubs as everything just seems to be a TOWIE wannabe.
We miss places like the Black Sheep and then even before that Blue Orchid. They were brilliant.
If Croydon is to thrive and have a bustling nightlife then we need to cater for more people than just those who want to go out and get hammered and then start fights.
How about a jazz club for example? It makes sense.
I hope those in power read this letter.
