A youth theatre group has received a £1,000 cash boost.
Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation (CYTO) was given the money by London Overground Rail Operations Limited (LOROL).
CYTO, which is based in South Norwood, runs theatrical workshops for young people aged 13 to 25.
They have produced concerts, plays and musicals for the community.
Richard Baker, a London Overground Driver Instructor, applied for funding for the group from LOROL’s donation fund.
The money will go towards putting on a summer production of Cabaret and to update the group’s building. Mr Baker, who’s son attended the theatre group for six years, said: “My son was inspired by the teachers, staff and friends he made there.
“I applied for a donation as over the past few years funding has been cut as people tighten their belts.”
Peter Austin, London Overground’s Managing Director, said: “. I am delighted we are able to continue this legacy by making a donation to Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation.
“We look forward to learning more about how our support has helped them to achieve their goals.”
