Rainbows have a habit of appearing when you are busy with something else that has to be done there and then. Even when you are able to grab the camera, the whole process is a race against time and by the time you've got the camera adjusted to the ideal setting, the beautiful vision has gone. I managed to catch the end end of a rainbow to the south of Sutton this evening but had to exaggerate the colour saturation rather a lot.

Sometimes people describe moments when they didn't have a camera handy. When this happens, I say maybe we were just meant to look and enjoy seeing - and the reason why we still have a need for poetry to describe those un-photographed moments.

Anyway, once the rainbow was gone the chief sub alerted me to some good sunbeams on the other side of the building. I went to look and they were indeed impressive.

Now I need to head home before I notice something else...
