Have you been offered a cut-price TAG Heuer watch in the past two days?

If so then Surrey Police want to hear from you as a number of the high-price watches were snatched during a raid on a jewellery shop in Epsom on Monday night.

Three masked men used a sledge hammer to smash their way into Epsom’s Ashley Centre and break a glass cabinet at Ernest Jones at about 11pm on Monday.

The trio grabbed escaped with an unknown quantity of the TAG Heuer which range in price from about £1,000 up to £77,000.

Detective Constable Laura Chambers said: "I would also appeal to anyone who has been offered a Tag Heuer watch for sale at a vastly reduced price as we believe a number of them were stolen in the raid and this information may help us find those responsible."

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and establishing what exactly was taken as part of an investigation into the smash and grab.

DC Chambers said: "Have you recently seen or heard anything suspicious in the area of the Ashley Centre which may connect to this incident?

"If you have, please come forward and share this information with officers."

But although the company said all the watches are traceable through their serial numbers neither they nor the police have yet revealed either the types of watches stolen or their serial numbers.

A police spokeswoman said: "We are still working on this information.

"If the officer in the case feels it is appropriate to release this information at a later stage, we will do, but not at the moment."

An Ernest Jones statement said: "Our efforts are currently focused upon ensuring the welfare of our staff and we’ll be spending time with each of them to offer them counselling following this robbery.

"All of the stolen items possess serial numbers which means they will be completely traceable if any attempt at resale is made."
