A mental health charity raised more than £1,000 following its annual fundraiser last week.

The TalkEasy Trust held their event at Carshalton Atheltic FC which more than 400 people attended including the Mayor of Sutton.

Around £1,400 was collected on the day with proceeds going towards Scarlett Hewitt, an eight year old girl who needs to raise £65,000 to pay for an operation in America to allow her to walk unaided.

There were two football matches played. The first between the TalkEasy Trust and the Crystal Palace Mental Health Football Team which was followed by a game between Wallington High School for Boys staff and John Fisher staff.

The TalkEasy trust helps young people in Croydon and Sutton suffering from stress find out ways of coping with their problems.

Prior to matters on the pitch, TalkEasy directors Matt Woosnam and Aidan McNulty spoke to delegates about the work of the trust and their plans for the future.

Mr Woosnam, who is currently studying at Kingston University, said: “I am delighted to have raised such a significant sum of money for Scarlett, and hope that it goes some way towards helping her achieve her dream of walking unaided again.

“It was good to share my thoughts beforehand about the work of the trust and it is great to have an excellent relationship with the Study Centre at Crystal Palace.

“Paul Richards is doing great work there as the captain of the mental health team and supporting those with mental health issues.”
