Rail passengers were searched for drugs as they arrived into town on Friday evening.

Officers used specialist police dogs to search people as the arrived at Sutton station and found 10 people with cannabis and a further person carrying a class A drug as well as cannabis.

The police dogs identified 26 suspects and even those who were not carrying drugs at the time admitted having drugs on them earlier, according to Sergeant Simon Alexander.

Inspector Richard Hall said: "Anyone bringing drugs into the town centre can expect to be stopped and dealt with robustly.

For goodness sake stop this ridiculous "war on drugs" and the percecution on anyone who has anything to do with any drug that isn't alcohol, tobacco or caffeine. In future years news articles like this will be shown in libraries as examples of how completely rediculous drug prohibition was.

The drug behind most of the trouble that take place in the town centre, is alcohol. This is a waste of police resources on a grand scale.

Absolutely. And I'm guessing half the people that keep these laws intact, those who come down on cannabis but think over 10 pubs in a .4 mile stretch is ok are hooked on alcohol themselves...so there's a bit of clouded decision making going on.
