Man in court on attempted murder charge after car and minicab crash in Bishopsford Road

A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder of a 22-year-old woman following a serious car crash.

Lucas Francis, of Grove Lane, Coulsdon was arrested on Sunday, June 8, after a car crash in Bishopsford Road, Morden.

The collision, reported by residents to have involved a silver Golf and a mini-cab, occurred just after midnight on Sunday.

London Ambulance Service treated five patients for minor injuries at the scene, taking three of them to St Helier Hospital, Sutton.

Mitcham fire officers also attended the collision.

Police closed off the road at the junction with Seddon Road while they investigated.

Mr Francis appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court yesterday, where he was given conditional bail to return to Kingston Crown Court on Monday, June 23.
