Innovative students have reached the final of the national Apps for Good Awards.

Two teams from Sutton Grammar School for Boys are in the running to collect the prize, after designing useful mobile phone apps.

One team designed ‘Occasion Location’, which has been shortlisted in the Connected Communities category.

The app is designed to help parents and young adults find and book venues for parties and events.

The second team has created an app allowing people to compose their own music tracks.

‘My Studio’ has been shorlisted in the Learning Category.

The teams will attend the awards ceremony at the Barbican in London on June 23.

They will pitch their apps to a panel of experts and high profile figures, including digital entrepreneur Baroness Martha Lane Fox, Tech City CEO Gerard Grech, and TV presenter Davina McCall.

The Apps for Good Awards aims to find the next generation of problem solvers and digital creators.
