Tennis-lovers will be making a racket down the High Street next week, as they watch the Wimbledon championships on a giant TV screen.

Matches will be shown live from Trinity Square in Sutton as the tournament runs from Monday June 23 to Sunday July 6.

The massive TV means people in Sutton won’t miss a second of the action, as Andy Murray slogs it out for his second Wimbledon title.

The screen is being provided by Sutton Council and Successful Sutton, a business-led initiative to raise the high street’s profile and make it an attractive place to shop.

Councillor Jayne McCoy, chair of the housing, economy and business committee, said: “This summer is hugely exciting in the world of sport.

"We want people to enjoy the tennis while out shopping, and hopefully we can get a good atmosphere in the high street.”
