Sutton scouts tried their hand at DIY to raise money for a camping trip.

5th Sutton Scout Group made bird boxes, trinket boxes, CD racks and planters, which they then sold onto the public.

The Cub Scouts, aged between 8 to 10, made the products from scratch before painting them.

They managed to raise just over £300 in sales and donations.

Cub Scout Leader Vanessa Lambert, said: “They were working towards their Promise Badge which is all about helping others.

"The reason behind selling the newly created products was to raise money to cover the cost of our volunteers, who are attending Camp at the end of this month.

“Over 50 people will be attending Camp at Park Farm in Banstead."

The event was part of Scout Community Week which is supported by B&Q.

The 5th Sutton Scout Group made and sold the products at their store in Sutton.

They were based there on Wednesday, June 4, and Saturday, June 7.
