Wimbledon legend Roger Federer took time out of his quest to win a record eighth title in this year's championship to meet a disabled youngster.

Ava Mear, 5, is receiving rehabilitative treatment for a brain injury at The Children's Trust, in Tadworth Court.

She had a memorable day out at the All England Club on Friday, July 4, where she received VIP treatment and got to meet the Swiss tennis ace, who has won 17 grand slam titles and is ranked number three in the world.

Ava also got to play tennis on the courts, had lunch in the players' dining room, met the players, watched them practise and met everyone in the referee's office.

The day out was arranged by Andrea Jaeger, a former tennis pro who visited The Children's Trust to teach children at the charity how they can enjoy tennis despite their disabilities.

After meeting Ava, Jaeger got in contact to invite her to Wimbledon.
