Officers seized two crossbows and arrested a man on suspicion of making threats to kill amid dramatic scenes in Carshalton this morning.
At least six police cars arrived in Clowser Close, off Lind Road, after a member of the public reported someone wielding a weapon at 7.13am.
Officers arrested a man, believed to be in his 30s, on suspicion of making threats to kill and seized two crossbows and bolts.
The road remains cordoned off and traffic is being diverted.
The arrested man is in custody and has been taken to a south London police station for questioning.
