Police officers and members of the public who went above and beyond and even risked their lives in the line of duty have been honoured.
Sutton's borough commander Detective Chief Superintendent Guy Ferguson handed out commendations to 17 officers, police staff and members of the public who did outstanding work in the last year.
Among those awarded were a father and son who saved a man in a flat fire, a PCSO who calmed down a knife wielding suspect and an officer who tracked a suspect when he was not even on duty.
Det Ch Supt Ferguson said: "These commendation ceremonies serve to highlight the outstanding work that goes on every hour of every day.
"I am often humbled by the lengths our hard working officers and staff will go to in delivering exceptional levels of service to our residents across the borough."
PC Allan Mullaney was commended for saving the life of a 24-year-old woman who went missing from her partners address in Beddington in October.
PC Mullaney knew the woman was at high risk and helped coordinate the search with his knowledge of the area.

As the temperature dropped, he decided to take a final look in a wooded area off Guy Road and found the woman, who was very cold and suffering from cuts to her arms and legs.
PC Chris Emerton came to the aid of a woman who had allegedly been attacked by a man with a knife and tied up and left on a sofa.
The officer comforted her and used his body-worn camera to record the scenes and document the upset the attack caused.

As a result, a suspect is due to appear in court connected with the attack next month.
PC Rob Pain was not even on duty when he spotted a suspect in Brighton Road on Monday, March 4. He called the control room and tracked the suspect until nearby officers were able to attend.
A father and son who are not in the police were honoured for helping police and firefighters by saving a man from a flat fire in Cheam in March. The duo broke down a man's door after seeing smoke and hearing the man crying for help.
The man suffered burns but survived thanks to the pair's heroism.
PCSO Stephen King, Sergeant Andrew De'Voreaux and Sutton Housing Partnership worker Lynne Mitchell organised an event to help jobless young people back into work.
Sutton central PC Paul Wenham, who chased down a knife wielding suspect and coo-ordinated a week-long undercover drugs operation was commended for his can-do attitude.
PC Heath Keogh established a dog control initiative that has since been copied by other boroughs in the Metropolitan POlice and further afield.
The Sutton schools team was commended for the way it handled the case of two girls who were using the internet to send abuse to former teachers.
PCSO Vanessa Lewis defused a potentially violent situation when she calmed down a man who was brandishing a kitchen knife and threatening to harm himself and others in Culvers Avenue in March.
Heather Shaw has been the chairwoman of Sutton Neighbourhood Watch Association since 2006 and has overseen a huge growth in the initiative.
Sgt Graham Rice oversaw a reduction in antisocial behaviour of 7.1 per cent in 2012.13 and was commended for his professionalism and creativity.
