Driver in hospital after Wallington smash

A driver has been taken to hospital after a crash at a busy Wallington junction this morning.

A car and a van crashed at the junction of Stafford Road and Stanley Park Road at 9.20am.

The driver of the car has been taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene and traffic through the area was severely disrupted.

The road has now reopened.

If this is the new roundabout in Hackbridge right by the station I think this is going to be the first of many. There was no need for a roundabout there and has caused nothing but disruption and traffic chaos. Just as well I ride a motorbike!! :)

Its not that junction, but i totally agree with you. Its madness, drivers either hesitate too much or drive right over the middle of it. Whoever approved the design needs to come down and have a look at the chaos it is causing.

Its madness, drivers either hesitate too much or drive right over the middle of it. Whoever approved the design needs to come down and have a look at the chaos it is causing. debbierit

It's like a circus down there!! Terrible design by the council. Let's hope the council listens for once rather than wait for accidents to happen. Usually residents have to use the weight of Tom Brake before a resolution is found.

I walk that way every morning and at the time lucky enough I needed the loo so went sainsbury. So I would have been crossing there at the moment it happened!
