A robber from Worcester Park is on the run after escaping from custody during a hospital visit.

Jamie Halifax, who has been known to live in Thames Avenue, had been taken from Lewes prison to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton when he evaded officers and fled the hospital in the early hours of Sunday.

Halifax, 25, was convicted of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon at Brighton Crown Court on June 5 and was awaiting sentence when he escaped from the hospital at 12.40am yesterday.

He is white, 5ft 8in tall, slim and has cropped brown hair. He is heavily tattooed.

Members of the public have been advised not to approach Halifax if they see him and to call 999 immediately.
