A gang of teens who were hanging around a Carshalton chicken shop carried out an unprovoked attack on a vulnerable man.

The 24-year-old victim was walking past Favourite Chicken in Green Wrythe Lane when a group of six teenagers started following him at about 10.45pm on Wednesday, July 23.

The gang followed the man into Thornton Road where they confronted him and punched him in the face before running off.

The victim was treated in hospital where he was fitted with a plate for his broken jaw and had stitches in his lip.

Police have descriptions of two of the youths. Both are white, skinny, aged 16 to 17 and about 5ft tall.

One had white, mousey hair and was wearing a white hoodie, the other is tanned and had straight, dark hair and wore a red hoodie.

Detective Constable David Owen of Sutton CID said: "This was a nasty attack on a vulnerable man.

"We believe these youths live in the local area and someone is going to know who they are. 

"Please come forward if you have any information so we can put those people responsible before the courts."
