Two elderly people in Sutton have fallen victim to scams in just two days.

£2,900 was stolen from a 78-year-old woman in Wallington, after she was duped into giving out her bank details.

The woman, who lives in Hurricane Road, is the latest victim of a bank courier scam.

She received a call on Thursday, July 31, from someone pretending to be from Natwest bank.

The caller stated her bank cards had been used in a fraud, and she would need to be issued with a new PIN and cards.

After she revealed the number and her bank details to the caller, her cards were collected by a courier.

She is now being financially supported by her family.

A 79-year-old woman had £45 stolen along with her a purse after letting a stranger into her house.

The man was hanging outside her house in Cheam Common Road, Worcester Park on Wednesday, July 30.

The woman asked him if he was there about her trees and the thief said he was.

The man then made off with the woman’s purse after she invited him into her house.
