A 17-year-old from Sutton has been arrested on suspicion of making a bomb hoax, which mobilised police on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada, USA.

The boy allegedly called Metropolitan Police on 999 and said there was a bomb below a taxi parked outside the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, on South Las Vegas Boulevard.

The Met’s central communications command passed the call to the Las Vegas Police Department, which dispatched officers to the scene.

While US officers checked vehicles outside the hotel, Met staff in Sutton traced the caller.

These enquiries led Sutton response officers to an address in the borough where a youth was arrested at 01:38am- exactly an hour after the 999 call was allegedly made.

The youth, who was arrested on suspicion of making a bomb hoax call, has been bailed to return later this month.
