A Sutton police officer has heaped praise on the Sutton South Hello initiative, which supports elderly and vulnerable people in the borough.
Sergeant Paul Cole even had time for a quick game of darts with volunteers and members, when he dropped in on one of their meetings on Wednesday, August 13.
The officer said: “This initiative scores a bullseye in terms of helping to combat loneliness and isolation.
"The ward has a high proportion of over 65s with a large number of people living in sheltered accommodation or in single occupancy flats.
"Any initiative that provides a lifeline to people who may be lonely, and have no one to talk to is a great idea and deserves our full support."
Sutton South councillors Trish Fivey and Richard Clifton were also at the meeting held at Christ Church, Christchurch Park, Sutton.
Sutton South Hello was set up in May 2013, and encourages elderly people to be active in their community.
Members meet at Christ Church every Wednesday between 2-4pm to take part in various activities.

"You're looking the wrong way!"- The dartboard is behind them
