A songwriter and music producer has realised his dream of producing an album sung by his musical idols from the past five decades.

Tony Power, from Hackbridge, has been a passionate songwriter for 30 years, writing for his own local band.

At the same time he began writing music for his favourite artists, including 60s girl band, The Three Degrees, 80’s and 90's popstar Sonia, and Irish Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh.

Mr Power, who has a full time job working with Sutton mental health services, built up a huge collection of tracks tailored to these acts and five years ago set out on a crusade to contact and record each single.

He explained the response was slow to start with, and his first breaks were when Sonia, best known for hit You'll Never Stop Me Loving You, and Kavanagh, who won the 1993 Eurovision with In Your Eyes both agreed to get involved.

The Three Degrees followed suit, and soon others, including Angie Brown, Kelly Wilde and Patti Revell agreed.

He said: "When the others were told who were going to be on the album, this helped to entice the other artists to take part.

"I have always wanted to write songs for my favourite artists and it was absolutely fantastic when they responded and liked and agreed to sing the songs I had written for them.

"It is a dream for any song writer to write songs for your favourite artists, the biggest honour was writing for The Three Degrees."

Producing the album through his own record label, Powerworld Music, Mr Power is now set to launch his unique compilation later this year.

He said: "The music is pretty old school, but it just goes to show, if you put your mind to something you never know what you can achieve."

The album will be titled Best of Powerworld Music, to hear the tracks visit: www.powerworld-music.com
