People in Wandsworth can benefit from free blood pressure tests next month, to help reduce their chances of suffering from a stroke.
The service will be provided by the Stroke Association on Monday, September 8, from 10am to 4pm.
Volunteers from the group will carry out the checks at the Southside Shopping Centre.
High pressure contributes to around 50 per cent of strokes, and is deemed to be the biggest controllable risk factor.
Michelle Gersh, the information, advice and support coordinator for the Stroke Association in Wandsworth, said: "Someone in the UK has a stroke every three and a half minutes and the Stroke Association is determined to change that.
"It is so important to understand the risks and what to look out for; it could save your life or the life of someone you love."
