Eco-friendly infant school children are welcoming the arrival of an exciting new addition to their playground.
The Victor Seymour Infants School in Carshalton will be home to a cave made largely from sustainable materials.
The walls will be made out of old car tyres which will be covered with grass, and piping running down the side of the structure will collect water for a garden outside of the cave.
Work will begin on Monday September 29, and is expected to take place throughout the duration of next week.
Children and parents will be mucking in by carrying soil, and collecting materials for the structure such as glass bottles.
The cave will be used as a place for children to learn about sustainable living.
Pupils from other local schools, nurseries, and scout groups, will also be allowed to visit for educational sessions.
It will cost around £9,800 to build, and the money has been donated by the Big Lottery Fund.
