A private investigator shot footage of a yob hurling a firework from a van, which exploded in the road while people slept.

The hooligan launched the missle in Stanley Park Road, Wallington, at roughly 11.40pm last night.

The video was filmed by a resident of Stanley Park Road

Richard Martinez, who owns Expedite Detective Agency, said: "I saw the van go past close to midnight.

"Someone inside seemed to chuck something out for no reason, then it exploded.

"There are older people living around here, it could have really shaken them up."

Mr Martinez, who lives in Stanley Park Road, passed the video on to the Met police.

A Sutton police spokesperson said: "It is an offence to throw fireworks in the street or any other public place under the Explosives Act 1875.

"Perpetrators face arrest, being fined by the courts and having a criminal record."
