A Sutton-based DJ and producer will be making waves across the UK on Wednesday, after landing an hour-long slot on BBC Radio 1.

Tony Vibe is one half of jungle and breakbeat outfit RadioKillaZ, who have been handpicked by DJ Annie Nightingale to appear on the station.

The 40-year-old, who lives above a shop in Sutton High Street, has been making music for 20 years.

He teamed up with Essex-based DJ Skin Lazy back in 2007 to form RadioKillaZ, with their tracks regularly being up by Ms Nightingale for her Radio 1 show.

An hour-long RadioKillaZ set will play on the station in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Mr Vibe said: "I am over the moon, absolutely over the moon.

"For a musician to get their music on Radio 1 is a great achievement.

"Annie has had a little soft spot for us for a while, she regularly plays our tracks and now we have finally been given our own slot.

"In the past we sent her a track called No Babylon, she loved it, and it inspired this mix she did of loads of different tracks with either Babylon in the lyrics, or Babylon in the title."

Tony Vibe grew up in Epsom, and lived in Beaufort Way in Ewell, Epsom, before moving to Sutton at the age of 25.

He is now studying music production and business management at Westminster University.

Mr Vibe is considering moving into artist management when he graduates.

He said: "I like to help people and I am good with people, so that's definitely a route I would like to go down.

"But RadioKillaZ also have a record label, so I'm hoping the business-side of the degree is going to help with that."

Annie Nightingale was the first ever female DJ on Radio 1 and is their longest-serving presenter, having joined the station back in 1970.

The RadioKillaZ set will play live on BBC Radio 1 from 1am to 2am tomorrow, and will be available on iPlayer after.
