Olympic silver medallist Wendy Sly has been made an MBE in the New Year Honours list.
The Sutton-based former track runner secured second place in the infamous 3000m final at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
The race is famed for a collision between the USA's Mary Decker and Great Britain's Zola Budd.
Ms Sly, who won the 1983 10km World Road Race Championships in San Diego, has been honoured for her contribution to athletics.
Her LinkenIn profile states she is now owner of Wendy Sly Associates, but it is unclear what services are offered by the firm.
The mother-of-one, who is originally from Hampton, also picked up a 3000m silver medal at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.
A year later she came runner up to Mary Decker at an indoor race in New York, where she ran the fastest ever mile by a British woman at the time.
Born Wendy Smith, the athlete married middle distance runner Chris Sly in 1982, and is now living in the Wallington postcode of Sutton.
1,251 people have been honoured in the 2015 list, with 69 per cent recognised for outstanding work in the community.
