Croydon Council is urging people to get ‘treecycling’ as they dispose of their festive decorations.
With almost one million real Christmas trees thrown away each year, the council has decided to set up recycling collection points across the borough.
Collections will take place on Sunday 4 and Sunday, January 11.
People are urged not to leave their trees at the points any date after Saturday January 10.
