The Gary Mason Charity Drummers were in ‘hi ho’ spirits last week, as they paraded through the capital to welcome in 2015.

Sutton’s float in the annual London New Year's Day Parade was led by Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, which was made up of members of the Pointers Dance Studio in Wallington.

They were joined by children’s favourites Bob the Builder and Postman Pat, as well as people dressed as a fireman, a nurse, a pilot, and Beefeaters.

The theme of this year’s celebration was ‘London on the Move' and Sutton was represented by the Gary Mason Charity.

The group hold workshops to promote the therapeutic benefits of African drumming.

Sutton was one of 17 London boroughs to take part and won 6th place for best float.

The £2,000 prize money will be donated to Mayor Arthur Hookway's chosen charities- the Sutton Seniors Forum and the Sutton Mentoring and Independent Leisure Experiences (SMILE).

Councillor Hookway also attended the parade, and said: "I was really proud to see Sutton so well represented. We have won sixth place for the second year running, and have shown how creative and vibrant Sutton can be."

The parade began at Piccadilly in 12pm, and finished off at Parliament Square at 3.30pm.
