A bride-to-be who discovered she had cancer after being checked out for a chest infection, will walk 14 miles to raise money for the Royal Marsden Hospital.

25-year-old Talia Golding had just returned home from a gap year in May 2012, when she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Ms Golding, from Surbiton, said: "A month after I got back my fiancé took me to A&E because I couldn’t breathe.

"It felt like there was an elephant on my chest. A scan showed that I had a shadow on my lung and a biopsy the next day revealed that it was cancer."

Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma refers to group of cancers which start off in the lymphatic system- a group of vessels that transport a clear fluid to the heart.

After diagnosis Ms Golding was transferred to the Royal Marsden’s Cancer Trust unit in Sutton, where she underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

She relapsed three months later and was treated with more chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

Ms Golding is now in remission, and has signed up to take part in this year’s Marsden March to say thank you to the Royal Marsden.

Her 22-year-old fiancé Pip Stone will join her on the 14 mile walk between the hospital’s two sites in Chelsea and Sutton.

So far they have raised £75 of their £500 target.

The couple are set to get married in May this year.

The Marsden March takes place on Sunday, March 22, and the deadline to enter is Monday, January 19.
