A pervert exposed himself to a girl in an alleyway prompting schools in the area to issue an alert and a police appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The man flashed the youngster between Avon Close and The Avenue in Worcester Park on Monday, January 26, at 7.55am.

The case is being led by Surrey Police with officers from Sutton and the 11-year-old's school providing assistance.

Detective Sergeant Antony Preston said: "This was a concerning incident where a man has exposed himself to a young girl and we need the public's help to track him down.

"Fortunately the victim was not harmed in any way during the incident but this was obviously a very upsetting experience for her to go through."

The man did not speak to the schoolgirl and made no attempt to touch or follow her, Surrey Police said.

The girl ran away before reporting the incident.

Police have taken a statement from the victim and officers are due to visit the school again on Wednesday, January 28, to provide reassurance and advise pupils and their parents to report anyone acting suspiciously to police immediately on 999.

Since the attack patrols in the area have increased and an alert has been circulated on Sutton Council’s SchoolSafe system to inform secondary schools in the borough and to publicise a description of the suspect.

He was said to be white, aged 30, about 5ft 8in tall and of medium build. He has short dark brown hair with a side parting and is clean shaven. He was wearing a short shiny black puffa style coat with two breast pockets, light blue denim jeans and black trainers.

Anyone with information about this man, should call their local police force on 101 quoting reference 45150007225 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
