Flurries of snowflakes were seen falling in the town centre this afternoon.

The brief snowfall was seen by office workers based next to Sutton station and lasted just a couple of minutes.

People across the borough took to social media to express their excitement at the arrival of the snow, which fell at roughly 4.25pm.

This morning the Met Office issued a yellow warning for Greater London and Surrey, meaning people should be aware there could be snowfall.

A red or orange level means the public should be prepared to take action.

The Met has said tomorrow morning there will be ‘more persistent’ rain, sleet, and snow, but most areas will not see large amounts of snowfall.

In northern England snowstorms have closed more than 300 schools, roads, and airports.
