Police are hunting a man who sexually assaulted a young woman last night.

The woman was walking along The Kingsway in Ewell, at 8pm, near the junction with Purberry Grove when she was approached from behind by a man who touched her inappropriately.

Police are investigating whether the incident is linked to three other similar assaults in the area in recent weeks, which is near to Glyn School.

The man is white, with dark brown hair, of slim-to-medium build and around 5ft 6ins tall.

He was wearing a grey hooded top, dark jogging bottoms and an iPod armband.

After assaulting the woman, he ran up The Kingsway, turned right onto Epsom Road and right again in the direction of the Sainsbury’s store on Kiln Lane.

Detective Constable Colin Snell, investigating officer, said: "It is possible that the man was in Gibraltar Park prior to the offence and officers would appeal to anyone who was in this area, particularly passengers disembarking trains at West Ewell Station, around this time to contact Surrey Police as they may have information vital to this investigation.

"The victim was left shaken following this incident but she has been extremely strong and able to provide us with details of the offender therefore we are hopeful someone will be able to provide us with further information which will lead us to him.

"We are currently investigating whether this assault is linked to three other similar offences in this area over recent weeks and I would like to know if anyone else has been a victim and has not yet reported this to police."

Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting reference 45150010144, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
