Candidates hoping to represent your interests in the House of Commons are preparing to clash in the latest Sutton Guardian organised electoral debate.

Paul Burstow MP, who has represented Sutton and Cheam constituency since 1997, will face off against pretenders to his crown in the form of Dave Ash, NHA, Maeve Tomlinson, Green, Angus Dalgleish, UKIP, Emily Brothers, Labour, and Paul Scully, Conservative.

Focussing on issues surrounding the economy, the six will take questions from members of the public in a hustings chaired by Sutton Guardian editor Nick Hitchens.

The debate is the second of three scheduled events designed to give voters the chance to hear how the assembled group plans to represent Sutton and Cheam.

A first event was held at Sutton Sports Village, Rose Hill, in November on health.

The feisty meeting saw more than 80 people attend and grill the candidates on their attitude towards the NHS and in particular the future of St Helier Hospital.

The upcoming debate will be held at Christ Church and St Philip, Ruskin Drive, Worcester Park, on February 19.

Doors will open from 7.30pm with an 8pm start.

Capacity of the hall is about 130, and the audience will be seated on a first come first serve basis.

Parking is limited and those hoping to attend are encouraged to explore public transport options.

A final debate is scheduled for Nonsuch High School, Cheam, on March 12, with the lead topic education.
