A man has been arrested after a man was threatened with a baseball bat and a car windscreen was smashed last night.
The attacks happened at a property in Kingston Road, Ewell, at 11.45pm.
It is believed the men know each other.
Police officers arrested a man in his 20s at the property for criminal damage and affray.
He remains in police custody.
PC Barry Reece, investigating officer, said: "There were several people in the vicinity when this offence occurred and no doubt the actions of the person responsible will have caused them alarm.
"We are still in the early stages of this investigation but we believe both the victim and the suspect are known to each other.
"Although the damaged vehicle does not relate to the threatened person we believe the two incidents are linked and I would ask anyone else who witnessed either event to contact Surrey Police."
Anyone with information should call the police on 101 quoting reference number 45150015337 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
