Burglars threatened a 64-year-old man with a screwdriver and stole a £3,000 Rolex watch he was wearing after they had forced their way into his home, Sutton police has said.

The three men were wearing dark hoodies as they broke through the front door of the semi-detached home in Midway, Sutton, on Thursday, February 19, at 5.30pm.

The 64-year-old was watching tv when he heard noises and went to investigate.

He saw the raiders breaking in and shouted for them to stop as he would call the police, but the three men got in, threatened him and demanded cash for drugs.

A spokesman for Sutton police said: "Three intruders came in, pushed the resident aside, demanded cash for drugs and threatened him with a screwdriver.

"Two of men went upstairs while the other man stayed with the resident in the sitting room.

"All three intruders then searched downstairs before leaving via the front door when the resident called police."

The suspects wore dark gloves with scarves worn to conceal their identity.

One of the men spoke in "perfect" English to the victim but in an eastern European language to his accomplices.

Among the items taken was the Rolex, described as gold and silver in colour with a metallic strap, model number1 6233 and serial number: U145861.

Two bank cards and £120 cash were also stolen.

Those with information about this incident, or are offered the watch for sale are asked to call Sutton police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
