Police were called to Heen's Chinese Restaurant by staff who suspected a diner or trying to run away after eating and drinking two bottles of wine
Staff at Heen's Chinese restaurant in Mulgrave Road, Sutton, stopped an alleged dine and dasher after chasing him down and locking the doors until police arrived.
The ruckus took place at about 8.20pm on Wednesday, March 11.
A waitress at the restaurant said: "I think he just tried to get a free meal.
"He came in, had a meal and two bottles of wine and then he tried to run out.
"We tried to stop him, locked the door and called the police."
Following the incident a man was arrested on suspicion of carrying an offensive weapon following a civil dispute inside the restaurant, Metropolitan Police said.
One police van was called and a man was seen being led away.
