A man has been found guilty of exposing himself to a dog walker in Addington's Spring Park.

Croydon Crown Court heard how in May last year Soloman Odam, of Lodge Lane, New Addington, approached a woman who was walking her three dogs.

The 6ft 5in 37-year-old unbuttoned his raincoat to reveal his unzipped trousers.

One of the startled woman's dogs, a Yorkshire terrier, jumped up at him but he kicked it away.

Odam was tried for the same offence last September but a jury could not agree on a verdict. He was found guilty at a second trial this week.

He has always denied the charges, insisting the woman was following him and that he was trying to avoid her.

But his victim told the hearing: "I saw a man wearing a long raincoat and this was unusual as it was a nice warm day. He had dark glasses on.

"He undid the belt of his raincoat and this sudden movement attracted my Yorkshire terrier who ran up to him.

"I called the police on my mobile. The man walked into Woodland Way and I followed him."

Police Community Support Officer John Sanders arrived at the park and spoke to Odam, who said the incident had nothing to do with Operation Minstead - a police investigation into a prolific burglar and rapist who has been targeting elderly victims across south London since 1992.

The high-profile case has been featured on the BBC's Crimewatch show but despite a massive manhunt the attacker has never been found.

DNA tests were carried out on Odam but the results showed he was not connected to the investigation.

He was bailed until April 18 for sentencing.
