After Dave Martin took the plaudits following his impressive substitute appearance against Luton Town, it was Lewwis Spence's turn to take the floor last Saturday.

Making his full debut against Burnley, the 19-year-old showed much promise and something not seen at Palace since the days of Wayne Routledge - a trick.

His superbly executed Cruyff turn on the edge of the Burnley box was, apart from Clinton Morrison's fine headed goal, the highlight of the half and dispelled any fears about possible nerves.

Whether Spence will get the nod against Leicester on Saturday depends on whether Gary Borrowdale recovers from the injury he sustained late last week.

Matt Lawrence is likely to revert to centre midfield if the left back returns to fitness, pushing Tom Soares or Dougie Freedman to the left flank in place of Spence.

If he is unable get an immediate chance to build on last week's performance it will be a shame, but at least Palace fans have seen a glimpse of his potential, which may entice renewal of season tickets.

The subject of season tickets is a subject weighing heavily on many Eagles' fans minds. Many have been put off renewing their tickets due to the poor performances on the pitch and lack of atmosphere at Selhurst Park.

But as the introduction of Martin proved in the last game at Selhurst Park, youngsters get the crowd on their feet and the possibility of these young Eagles kids featuring more predominately next term will certainly keep, and attract fans back.
