Purley John Fisher 25
Deal & Betteshanger 7

Purley John Fisher avenged their defeat earlier in the season, to Deal & Betts, as they posted this resounding home victory on Saturday.

In probably what was one of their better performances of the season they outscored the visitors by 4 tries to one. The match was an important one as the 2 sides were one place apart in the league as the visitors attempted to make up ground on second placed Purely John Fisher.

PJF worked hard in all departments and made sure that the opponents had little chance to control the game. Well structured attack was supported by a resilient defence that gave few chances to score. PJF built on their usual "up front" domination and secured good field position to launch attacks. Nick Owen opened the account by chasing a kick ahead and capitalising on a fluffed pick up by the covering defence to cross the whitewash.

Soon after Owen was again released as quick handling across the backline left the winger to thunder in for his second. Committed exchamges followed yet it was PJF that began to tke charge of proceedings. The ball was kept alive well and through several phases the ball was carried deep into the attack zone by Owen and the impressive hooker Sia. Blindside flanker Amess appeared in close support and drove over under the posts to help Sorrel make the conversion a formality.

Soon into the second half PJF attained a good field position and benefitted from an infringement allowing Sorrel to extend their lead by 3 points from the resultant penalty. With their tails up PJF broke hard a fast from a scrum in their own half. Caunce fed the returning Dolye who flipped the ball cleverly to his skipper Kerr. A swarthy run of 30 yards was capitalised upon as PJF secured possession and fed the backline for Carson to score PJF's final try.

A late consoloation try for the visitors was somewhat softly given, but by then the damage had been done.

Next week PJF face an away fixture against Warlingham in a friendly local Derby.
