Striders of Croydon did well to place second in the team event in the Sussex Beacon Half-Marathon at Brighton last Sunday.

They were led home by Justin Macenhill, who produced an excellent performance to finish ninth in a field of more than 3000 runners, recording a new personal best of 1 hour 15 minutes 13 seconds, lifting him to second place in the club's all-time rankings.

Club colleague Scott Antony also ran well to finish 11th (1.16.01), while Ian Campbell ran a personal best 1.20.48 to place 33rd and fifth in the over-40 category. Damian Macenhill placed 50th (1.22.13), with Paul Finch 103rd (1.25.16) and club secretary Chris Morton 185th (1.28.43).

Striders' fastest woman was Natasha Ling who placed 786th overall (1.40.20) Striders showed their strength in depth with a total of 29 finishers.
