Purley John Fisher 41
Gravesend 14

Purley John Fisher showcased their all round team capabilities this weekend outscoring Gravesend by seven tries to one.

However, Gravesend seized the initiative to go 6 points clear in as many minutes, as PJF experienced the officials zero tolerance policy in tackle and early breakdown play. This not only put them behind but it also served to pin them back in their own half.

After 15 minutes PJF found their cohesion and through good back row interplay they started to attack with purpose.

Strong running and good handling from all quarters soon saw Gray free on the wing to run in and score. Another penalty increased Gravesend's lead but Carson took the ball at pace and ran a good line to pierce the defence and score.

Soon after Gray scored his second as PJF again attacked with conviction. Gravesend retaliated with a try of their own to make the half time score 15-14 to PJF.

The second half saw PJF with all the possession and positional advantage but somehow the scoring just wouldn't come.

A good passsage of play amongst the backs saw Fox score under the posts allowing Sorrel to slot the first of his three conversions.

PJF then underlined their dominance as firstly Alvarez benefitted from a line out take and drive and then winger Owen ran in from 40 yards out to comfortably take PJF away from the visitors.

To round off the afternoon Captain Kerr broke the defence at the halfway line and ran in to touchdown under the posts.

Gravesend kept going to the end but it was the stern defence, in particular O'Brien, that denied them the opportunity to add to their points.

So Sidcup have won London 3 SE and PJF again face another potential playoff; the certainty of which relies on their remaining 2 games - away to a resurgent Aylesford (31 March) and finally home to Lordswood (14 Apr). PJF must win these as both Chichester and Deal & Betteshanger are in with a chance of usurping them on the final run in.
