Walton Casuals manager Kim Harris is trying to sign striker Sol Pinnock from high-flying Dulwich Hamlet as he looks to bolster his relegation-threatened squad.
Harris told the Comet he was on the verge of bringing the forward to Franklyn Road and also revealed he was toying with the idea of bringing in former Kingstonian midfielder Craig Lewington as a replacement for Billy Mead, who broke his leg last week.
Harris said: "We should be signing Sol Pinnock until the end of the season.
"I have watched him play and have been impressed, although he is only young, so I don't want to put too much pressure on him.
"I am also looking to bring in a replacement for Billy - and Lewington is an option."
Harris will run the rule over the Ks man in a midweek friendly.
Meanwhile, Harris said a deal for Fulham reserve keeper Corrin Brooks-Meade, who spent a loan period at Conference South side Lewes, had fallen through due to the stopper injuring his abdominal muscles.
Michael Carpenter's second-half strike was the only bright spot in Casuals' 4-1 defeat to Dover Athletic on Saturday, and Harris said the Stags were feeling the pressure of the relegation dog fight.
"Our league position is starting to tell on the lads, particularly the younger boys. But I am happy with the players I have - they have to start believing."
