The inaugural Dragonfly Stakes Day takes place at Kempton Park on Saturday, with a listed race, the inter casino.co.uk Dragonfly Stakes, the main attraction.

The Dragonfly Stakes has attracted a decent field, including last season's Goodwood Cup runner-up, Geordieland.

A Group Two winner in his native France, the six-year-old grey also made the frame off top weight in the following month's Ebor Handicap.

Sent to the Melbourne Cup in November, Geordieland was well fancied in some quarters to become the first British-trained winner of the great race, but rarely threatened to land a blow.

Although a confirmed stayer, he clearly has no shortage of speed and looks a likely favourite.

Alfie Flits, representing the Yorkshire stable of Alan Swinbank, could be another contender.

A cosy five-length winner of a Windsor listed race on his final start last term, Alfie's owners chose to swerve a winter campaign over jumps to keep their horse fresh for the upcoming flat season.

Gates open at noon with the first race at 2pm. To book tickets call 01372 470047 or visit kempton.co.uk.
