I was really interested to read the letter in last weeks paper on the problems with counselling service in Sutton.

I had similar experience in 2005 when my mum passed away, and because of my experience as a personal development trainer, I decided to start a grief support group.

To start with we were 12 members. I talked about listening skills and then we would split up into twos and talk and support each other. Then we talked about coping skills and actually practised these in the session. I still have five members.

All those who came felt a great benefit from this. I feel very strongly that we can all help each other. If the churches got involved in way of advertising this service and allowing space for meetings, we could help a lot of people, not only those who are bereaved, but also for mild depression.

I am willing to train anyone who would like to start a self help group.
