A group of would-be international traders returned to Croydon with high hopes of new business following a three-day mission to Arnhem.
The Dutch visit was organised by Croydon Business with financial support from Croydon Enterprise, the body created to administer the £20.3million local enterprise growth initiative (LEGI) grant given to the borough in 2006.
Bryan Treherne, an experienced overseas trader and international trade advisor for Croydon Business, led the mission to the borough's twin town.
He said: "The two places have been linked municipally for the past 60 years, following their common experiences in World War Two, but this is the first time either of us has attempted to form a commercial bond.
"We were warmly welcomed at every turn. We also saw plans for the redevelopment of Arnhem's railway station and the surrounding area, which again has strong echoes of work being developed in Croydon.
"We met a number of Dutch businesses during our three days in Arnhem and I am confident some of those meetings will turn into business in due course."
