Travellers left waste and litter at a site earmarked for a primary school in Hackbridge, acccording to Sutton Council.

They left a large amount of rubbish and debris at the site off London Road near BedZed, when they left after five days on Sunday, May 17.

An archaeological dig was due the day they arrived as part of the planning requirement needed for the new school.

A new security gate, a concrete motorway barrier and CCTV have since been installed.

Councillor Jill Whitehead, chairwoman of environment and neighbourhood committee, said: "The police believe there are materials within the fly tip rubbish that identify who the waste came from."
