A convicted paedophile is due to be sentenced today for the knifepoint rape of an 18-year-old man.
Roy King denied raping the victim in Crystal Palace Park on July 29 last year, but was convicted at Croydon Crown Court on January 27.
The offence was committed after King befriended the young man and offered him a place to stay after he missed his last train home.
King was arrested and charged with rape and sexual assault one day later and was remanded in custody.
King's trial began on January 15, and the West Norwood resident denied any responsibility or involvement in the offence.
When he was confronted with CCTV and forensic evidence, he then claimed he had had consensual sex with the victim.
The jury unanimously found King guilty of anal rape and sexual assault and he was remanded in custody ahead of today's sentencing.
A convicted paedophile, King has previous convictions for failing to comply with the terms of the Sex Offenders' Register.
He has 11 previous convictions for 25 offences, nine of which are of a sexual nature and include offences against young children.
Detective Sergeant Peter Rance, of Bromley Sapphire Unit said; "I am grateful to the victim for providing his evidence.
"It is his strength and honesty that has secured this conviction.
"I hope that the conviction enables him to rebuild his life."
